Matt Jones and Steven Bowditch are hoping the major-like buzz around the lucrative Players Championship will be a catalyst to getting them back in form.
The Australian pair broke through for their maiden US PGA Tour wins in Texas in 2014 and hopes of more consistent performances were high.
While regular top finishes did not transpire, Bowditch won again in Texas in 2015 and Jones outduelled Jordan Spieth to claim the Australian Open late last year.
But 2016 has been a different story.
Bowditch opened his calendar year with a top 10 finish in Maui but has missed the cut in five of his last six events, sitting 88-over in his last 14 rounds with a scoring average of 78.
The only week he played four rounds was in the no-cut WGC Cadillac Championship where he posted a record 37-over.
To be fair the Queenslander battled a wrist injury and multiple painful dental surgeries over the period but now is finally trending back in the right direction.
"I am fresh now, I had a nice break and this next month or so is where I have been eyeing off since the start of the year to play my best golf," Bowditch said.
"It has been that way the last few years and hopefully that will start again this week in Florida.
"This is a big event with a quality field and hopefully it can kick start a good run through the summer."
Since a tie for 11th at Pebble Beach in mid-February, Jones has missed six cuts in eight starts with a best result of 51st coming in the WGC Match Play Championship where he was winless in pool play.
He has thrown the blame on his putting where he is ranked a distant 195th on tour.
"I haven't had the year I would like to but it has certainly been terrible putting more than anything.
"There can be such fine lines out here ... putting is the key on this tour and those who putt well generally always find themselves in contention."
