Retired AFL premiership ruckman Shane Mumford wants to fight Cronulla great Paul Gallen in a battle of the rival football codes.
But stepping into the ring with the NRL veteran could be a while off as the 32-year-old Mumford finds his way in boxing.
The former Geelong, Sydney and GWS big man knocked out opponent Kyle Brumby in his professional debut in Melbourne last month.
Mumford is setting himself for a second bout in November, but is leaving his next opponent in the hands of boxing manager Ricky Nixon.
While Mumford has ambitions to test himself against Gallen, he won't be pressured into trying to make it happen before he's ready.
It would be a unique showdown with Mumford standing at 199cm, almost 20cm taller than Gallen.
"It's certainly something we'll look at doing in the future, at the moment it's still a while off," Mumford told AAP.
"Paul's had eight fights for eight wins, I'm out there with one for one so it's definitely something we'll look at doing in the future.
"For now I want to get a few more fights under my belt and see how I go first."
Mumford put on the gloves following his premature retirement from the AFL last year following a serious ankle injury.
He played 172 games at the top level, including the Swans' famous 2012 grand final victory over Hawthorn.
"I wasn't on the canvass at the end of the (first) fight so in that regard it went really well," Mumford said.
"The nerves and thoughts prior to the fight, I'd never done any individual sport before, so for everything and everyone watching me it certainly got me really nervy before going out there."
Gallen's last fight was a unanimous decision victory over Fijian Puna Rasaubale in November.
Rugby union star Sonny Bill Williams confirmed this week he's still keen to fight Gallen, a showdown that has been talked about for years.
