Boy, 13, rescued after climbing up crane

A boy, 13, has been rescued by firefighters after he climbed up a crane in the Perth CBD with friends but was left there after they fled.

A frightened 13-year-old boy who was stranded at the top of a crane in Perth's CBD overnight has been rescued by firefighters.

Police said they were called at 4.30am to a construction site on Pier Street, where they found the boy too scared to climb down.

He had scaled the crane with two friends, who then fled, leaving him on his own.

He was rescued by officers from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, checked over by paramedics and brought to hospital for a precautionary check-up.
