Witnesses are being sought over a Melbourne train station stabbing that left a 14-year-old boy with serious leg injuries.

Police are still seeking witnesses to the stabbing of a 14-year-old boy at a Melbourne train station a week ago.

The boy remains in the Royal Children's Hospital with serious leg injuries.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on Friday over the incident at Broadmeadows train station on Tuesday afternoon.

He was charged with intentionally causing serious injury in circumstances of gross violence, and bailed to appear before a children's court at a later date.
