Boy flown to hospital after car accident

A seven-year-old boy has been flown to Westmead Children's Hospital after being hit by a taxi in Sydney's inner west.

A seven-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital after being struck by a taxi in Sydney's inner west.

The child was struck in the city-bound bus lane on Victoria Road, Drummoyne around 5.40pm (AEDT) on Tuesday.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and a doctor from the Careflight Helicopter, before he was taken to Westmead Children's Hospital.

Witnesses have told police they saw the boy run onto the road chasing a ball immediately before being struck by the cab.

The taxi driver has been taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.
