Boy in Qld hospital with meningococcal

A Brisbane boy who contracted meningococcal disease is set to be released from hospital and is unlikely infect others, health authorities say.

A young Brisbane boy who contracted meningococcal disease is expected to be released from hospital shortly.

There is little chance of others contracting the severe infection from the seven-year-old, Dr James Smith of the Metro North Health Unit said on Tuesday.

Teachers and parents of children at the boy's school are in contact with health authorities as he is set to be discharged from Redcliffe Hospital later on Tuesday.
