Boyd's goal search resumes against Blues

Carlton are out to deny GWS Giants their first back-to-back win at Spotless Stadium and get back on the winners' list in the process.

GWS and Carlton are hoping their Spotless Stadium meeting on Sunday puts an end to two unwanted AFL searches.

For the Giants, it's teenage colossus Tom Boyd's third chance to kick his first AFL goal.

And for Carlton, it's a chance to get back on the winners' list after three straight losses.

Boyd resumes for the Giants with impressive form in the second-tier NEAFL and an ankle injury sidelining Jeremy Cameron

Ten goals in three reserves games has Boyd, who was anonymous in AFL outings against Adelaide and Gold Coast, ripe to break his AFL duck.

He's likely to be marked by the returning Michael Jamieson, one of three inclusions for the Blues.

Blues assistant coach Rob Wiley said his return would boost Carlton against the tall Giants forward line.

"His leadership and expertise in the back half, other players appreciate that and grow taller," he said.

Wiley said despite three straight losses, confidence was high at Visy Park.

"There's great belief from us after some great disappointment last fortnight," he said.

The Blues emerged with their honour intact from their past two matches, running Geelong and Hawthorn close the past two Friday nights.

Now faced with an opponent from the other side of the ladder, Wiley said there would be no underestimating the Giants despite their inconsistency.

"We're playing a side that's come off a good win last week and has had a good month of footy," he said.

"It takes a while for a team to gel... I've seen great improvement from them and we'll need to be at our best to beat them."

Lachie Henderson and Ed Curnow join Jamieson in coming back into a Blues side which has never lost to the Giants.

Wiley backed Henderson to recover the form that took him to the top three of the Carlton best and fairest last season.

"He didn't have a full pre-season and that's put him behind the eight-ball," Wiley said.

"He's been a little bit up-down but he's talented.

The Giants also bring in Kristian Jaksch and Adam Kennedy for Tom Scully (hamstring) and the omitted Jacob Townsend.
