Bracewell replaces injured McClenaghan

Doug Bracewell will replace the injured Mitchell McClenaghan in the NZ ODI side for the second match against Pakistan.

Doug Bracewell will replace an injured Mitchell McClenaghan in the Black Caps one-day squad after the left-armer fractured an eye socket batting against Pakistan.

The tailender was forced to retire hurt in the first ODI at the Basin Reserve on Monday after a short ball from Anwar Ali squeezed through a gap between his visor and helmet lid.

The part-time model will undergo cosmetic surgery on his left eye on Friday and may yet feature in the third ODI in Auckland on Sunday.

"Our main focus is making sure Mitch is OK and we'll continue to monitor him over the coming days," coach Mike Hesson said.

Bracewell played in three ODIs against Sri Lanka in December and has since helped the Central Stags into the domestic one-day final on Saturday.

He will join the squad for the second ODI in Napier on Thursday and will travel with the team to Auckland for the final match of the series.

"Doug has been in superb form this summer and were confident he can come in and do a good job for us," Hesson said.
