Two NRL players have been fined over a late-night melee outside a Sydney bar.

Bulldogs recruit Jacob Loko and Manly winger Jorge Taufua had to be separated by security staff during a booze-fuelled brawl outside the Hotel Chambers on Elizabeth Street last month.

The March 21 fist fight has been investigated by police but the footballers have avoided serious charges.

Police confirmed a 22-year-old man and a 23-year-old man were this week issued with criminal infringement notices for offensive behaviour.

The men won't have to face court but will pay fines.

The NRL integrity unit began its own investigation after CCTV footage aired by by the Nine Network showed Loko and Taufua - long-time friends - fighting on the footpath.

After Loko was evicted from the club, the pair traded blows on several occasions, with the brawl spilling onto the road and stopping traffic.

Should the Bulldogs take disciplinary action it could spell the end of Loko's career after his drink driving charge guilty plea in January.

Loko recorded a blood alcohol reading nearly four times over the legal limit and will be sentenced in May.

Taufua's contract could also come under scrutiny after he narrowly avoided jail in 2013 for spitting on a police officer on the Gold Coast while celebrating his 21st birthday.

He was given a two-match ban but was allowed to play in that year's finals series after pleading guilty and being given a suspended four-month jail sentence.
