Star point guard Cedric Jackson will return to the New Zealand Breakers after signing a new two-year deal with the NBL club.
Jackson, 28, led the Breakers to back-to-back championship wins and was named league MVP in 2013.
The Breakers finished seventh in the eight-strong competition last season.
He headed to Europe this year, but his time with Slovenian club Union Olimpija was cut short by injury, since working out in NBA camps in the United States.
Breakers coach Dean Vickerman says the club has been in talks with Jackson for some time.
"He's a perfect fit for the game I want the team to play this season and beyond, and has the experience in the vital point guard role to lead this team.
"He is up-tempo, strong and plays aggressive defence but I don't need to convince anyone of his ability. He has proven himself in this part of the world already."
Jackson became the first player in the Breakers' history to record a triple-double with 28 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against the Melbourne Tigers in November 2012.
He is scheduled to arrive in New Zealand in early September, with the Breakers' first game of this year's NBL scheduled for October 10 against the Wildcats in Perth.
The Breakers have seven players contracted for the new season: Jackson, Tom Abercrombie, Mika Vukona, Alex Pledger, Corey Webster, Reuben Te Rangi and Duane Bailey.
