Brett Morris hasn't suffered a recurrence of the knee injury that sidelined him for much of the NRL season and will likely be available for Australia's Four Nations campaign.
Morris struggled with knee trouble late in the first half of the Canterbury's NRL elimination final loss to Penrith on Sunday.
The problem flared up again in the second half and he was replaced on the hour mark.
The NSW and Australia representative was still being treated by team support staff long after fulltime, but brother Josh said the injury was not long-term.
"It's not the same knee he injured earlier this year, it is a different knee," Josh Morris said.
"Brett said he copped a knock on his kneecap and then the first bomb he took in the second half he copped another knock on it.
"He said he was struggling to run but I don't think it is very serious.
"But we definitely missed him lurking around the ruck in the latter stages of that second half."
After starring at fullback for the Dogs last season, Brett Morris missed two-thirds of the 2016 campaign due to a knee injury picked up in pre-season.
In his absence Will Hopoate capably filled the fullback role.
Morris moved to fullback from the wing for the sudden-death finals clash against Penrith, a match Hopoate sat out due to his religious beliefs.
A club versus country battle threatened to break out over Brett Morris' services for the Four Nations after he said he would leave his availability up to Bulldogs management.
However Dogs coach Des Hasler indicated Brett Morris would be free to play for Mal Meninga's Kangaroos if he is fit.
Australia's Four Nations squad will be named the day after the grand final.
Australia play an end-of-season Test in Perth against New Zealand on October 15.
The Kangaroos' Four Nations campaign opens against Scotland on October 28 at Hull's Craven Park.
