James Kingston's dramatic climb to the top of the monument - and the breathtaking view from the arch's tallest point - was all streamed live on the web.
It took dozens of safety and security experts three months to deliver the promotional stunt for a new camera, which allows users to stream live video.
“I did it because I love it," Kingston told the BBC. "It's my passion. I had the urge to do it, to explore and live my life to the fullest."
The 24-year-old is an expert in the French discipline of Parkour - or urban climbing. It's gotten him into trouble in the past after scaling cranes and bridges throughout Europe without permission.
Mr Kingston did still have to wear a safety wire for the stunt. He also donned a camera on his head and produced a selfie-stick when he reached the top.
