British man jailed over cat attack

A British man who kicked a cat to death after it had been hit by a car has been sentenced to 18 weeks jail.

A British man has been jailed for 18 weeks after pleading guilty to drunkenly kicking to death a cat that had just been run over by a car.

CCTV footage showed Anthony Delaney, 30, approaching the injured animal on a road near Manchester, northern England, before kicking it in the air.

He was also seen aiming a follow-up kick at the animal, which died from its injuries.

The magistrate also banned Delaney from keeping animals for five years.
