We've heard of artificial ski slopes - but now the UK is going to have its first artificial surfing lake.
Britain is not known as a surfing destination but that could change with the building of a giant wave lagoon in the mountains of North Wales.
The engineers of the project said the owners of the lake are “able to create the perfect wave every time” at the touch of a button.
The company Surf Snowdnia is constructing the artificial surfing lake which will open in 2015 in the UK.
The development of wave parks are considered key to the debate over whether surfing could become an Olympic sport.
"To be abe to come and surf a wave every minute, it's going to be huge benefit," says Lloyd Cole, coach of the British surf team.
British big wave surfer and lifesaver local Andrew Cotton -- who earlier this year rode the biggest wave ever surfed, off Portugal -- supports the innovation, but says nothing will take over the experience of being in the ocean.
