A survey from the UK suggests many Britons find it more stressful to be without their mobile phone for a day than not being able to speak to their partner for 24 hours.

The survey found 58 per cent of of the 2,000 respondents could not go for longer than a day without checking their phone, while only 28 per cent would be unable to cope with not speaking to their partner for 24 hours.

The survey by the UK's Nationwide Building Society also found 53 per cent of people checked their phone before talking to their partner first thing in the morning, while 66 per cent said they would be lost, unhappy, stressed or anxious without their mobile.

Given the choice, 42 per cent would rather forget their anniversary than lose their phone when asked to choose between the two.
