Broad would love Aussie to win Ashes

England paceman Stuart Broad says it would be 'beautiful' for an Australian coach to mastermind the visitors' downfall in the Ashes.

There are many different qualities that earned Trevor Bayliss the right to coach England.

Bayliss has a wide range of coaching experience to call on, adopts a relaxed approach and exhibits a sense of calm when the heat is on.

He's also the first Australian coach to mentor England, which excites Stuart Broad.

"I love the fact he's Australian and could potentially take the Ashes away from Australia," Broad said.

"To see a picture of an Aussie with the three lions on his chest, Ashes urn in his hand - that would be beautiful."

Broad is in the process of meeting Bayliss in Spain.

Before flying out, he was buoyed by the feedback from friend Michael Lumb, who played under Bayliss at the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League.

"He really likes him," Broad said.

"He thinks he's a really good guy.

"He likes the players to take responsibility and, from what I've heard, is a relaxed character in the changing room."

If England are to pull off an upset and reclaim the urn, Broad suggests it will be crucial they don't fire back should there be any niggle from Australia.

"I'd expect the Aussies to come hard at our players - as the success they have had over us in the last series, and in the World Cup - was based around aggression," Broad said.

"We have to be aware that they will be aggressive towards us ... but I don't think we have to rise to it.

"We won't beat them by out-sledging them."

The series starts on July 8 in Cardiff.
