Australian Ryan Broekhoff is hopeful his breakout NBA performance leads to more playing minutes for the Dallas Mavericks.
The 28-year-old, in his rookie year with the Mavericks, recorded a career-high 15 points in 22 minutes as his side fell to a 106-100 loss to Ben Simmons' Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday.
Broekhoff, who has averaged six minutes per game in his 17 matches this season, believes the new year could bring with it a greater role after ingratiating himself to veteran coach Rick Carlisle.
"Hopefully I've instilled some confidence that I can play at this level and they can put me in at times and I can have an impact," Broekhoff told SEN radio on Monday.
"Whether that leads to anything here right away, it's such a long season, so maybe towards the latter stage of the season."

With Dirk Nowitzki, JJ Barea and Devin Harris sitting out the clash against Philadelphia, Broekhoff made the most of his opportunity to hit six of his eight field-goal attempts and go three for five on three-pointers.
The Mavericks, who have slid to 12th in the western conference with back-to-back losses, face the LeBron James-less Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday (AEST).
