In-form Brisbane fullback Jordan Kahu is out of Friday night's NRL clash with Gold Coast due to a hamstring strain.
The 24-year-old tweaked the muscle during Brisbane's final training session on Thursday morning, forcing a late reshuffle on the eve of the match.
Kahu, who endured a luckless run with injuries in the early part of his career, has been one of Brisbane's best performers across the opening weeks of the NRL season.
But there's no "doom or gloom" when it comes to his latest setback, according to coach Wayne Bennett.
"I'm not sure how serious it is or if it's slight or a bigger tear than that," Bennett said.
"But he certainly won't be playing tomorrow.
"It's not career-ending, it's just a couple of weeks."
Winger Lachlan Maranta will shift to fullback to cover for Kahu, with Daniel Vidot brought into the squad to play on the wing.
Vidot has spent the first four weeks of the season playing in the Queensland Cup but now has a rare opportunity to prove his worth to Bennett, who was typically evasive when asked why he chose to draft in the former Canberra and St George Illawarra utility.
"He turned up to training," Bennett said.
"It's the best place to be if you want to keep me onside - be at training and play good.
"It's a simple formula."
Veteran forward Sam Thaiday also left training early on Thursday but is still expected to resume his position in the back row against the Titans.
Already without injured pair Justin Hodges and Adam Blair, Bennett said the Broncos will find it tough to notch their fourth straight win against what he described as an underrated Gold Coast side.
"They've been to hell and back with all the turmoil they've had down there," he said.
"But they've only been beaten once by a good scoreboard.
"The rest, they've won one, got beaten by a field goal and two points against a couple of teams that are going alright.
"We'd be fools to underestimate what they've got, so that won't be happening."
