Prized Broncos recruit James Gavet has suffered what is expected to be a season-ending knee injury - while serving a shoulder charge ban.

Brisbane confirmed that Gavet required a knee reconstruction after stepping awkwardly at training last Thursday.

Former Wests Tigers enforcer Gavet was running a defensive drill while serving the second week of a three-match ban.

A Brisbane spokesman said Gavet would go under the knife on Monday and would require a six to nine month recovery, all but ruling him out for the rest of the NRL season.

Meanwhile, Dale Copley and Mitchell Dodds are expected to be available for Sunday's away clash with the Warriors after overcoming calf problems.
