Broncos' Gavet cops shoulder charge ban

Brisbane Broncos prop James Gavet will miss three NRL matches after pleading guilty to a shoulder charge.

Brisbane prop James Gavet will miss three matches after pleaded guilty to a grade two shoulder charge in his team's heavy loss to premiers South Sydney in the season opener.

Gavet, who was playing his first match for Brisbane since an off-season switch from Wests Tigers, was charged following an incident involving Rabbitohs hooker Issac Luke in the 79th minute at Suncorp Stadium on Thursday night.

He would have risked a four-week suspension had he contested the charge.

Rabbitohs second-rower Ben Lowe has been hit with a grade one dangerous contact charge for a "crusher" tackle on Sam Thaiday but will be free to play with an early guilty plea.
