Tautau Moga might be the new face in the Brisbane line-up, but for former high school mate Anthony Milford, the game plan hasn't changed.
"That was our game plan then - get Tau the ball and the rest is history," Milford said.
"It's no different here in the NRL. It's pretty surreal, looking at my left and I got an old schoolmate there that I can just pass to. It's exciting."
Moga made a strong first impression in club colours during the Broncos' season-opening win over reigning premiers Cronulla, breaking a game-high four tackles and making 112 metres.
It's been almost five years since the duo starred for St Peter Claver College in Brisbane's west, when Moga was the talent most predicted would be the school's first NRL star.
And that he did, earning comparisons to dual international Israel Folau on his way to making his highly-anticipated first grade debut for the Sydney Roosters in 2012.
But three knee reconstructions quickly derailed the career of one of the game's most promising juniors - first at the Roosters, and then his past three years at North Queensland.
By the end of 2016 he had played just 32 games in five seasons, but the Broncos were quick to snap him up as a replacement for the retired Jack Reed.
Ahead of next week's local derby against Moga's old club the Cowboys, Milford said he was salivating at the prospect of linking with the 194-centimetre, 107-kilogram behemoth.
"First instinct is get him the ball and let him do whatever he needs to do. Just use his big frame," Milford said.
"He's going to be a real good pick-up for us, especially another big body there on the edge. It helps us out a lot, getting out of trouble, particularly in defence.
"I'm looking forward to building a combination there with Tau, my four-man (Sam Thaiday) and the winger (Corey Oates). So yeah, exciting times ahead."
