Not only has Anthony Seibold confirmed James Segeyaro's signing, the Brisbane coach has guaranteed the hooker a spot in his 17 while Andrew McCullough is sidelined.
Seibold has welcomed Segeyaro to the Broncos fold after signing the former Cronulla rake for the rest of the 2019 NRL season, hinting that he would use the wily No.9 as an impact bench player while he sweats on McCullough's return.
Seibold said Segeyaro would be the perfect back-up for rookie hooker Jake Turpin, who has been asked to step up in McCullough's absence.
Turpin made an encouraging start, putting in a lively display in Brisbane's 26-10 win over Manly at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night - just his third NRL game.
Seibold hinted that Segeyaro would be thrown straight into Broncos duty in their next round clash with Sydney Roosters.
"Chico (Segeyaro) hasn't been able to play for the Sharks this year but has played a lot of NRL - he will be a good foil for Jake Turpin," Seibold said of the veteran of 151 NRL games.
"We think he will come into our 17 while Macca is out. We need to put some support around Jake.
"He (Segeyaro) is a bit of a spark out of dummy half, defensively he is pretty aggressive and he is a big personality.
"He tells me he always wanted to play for the Broncos so we will give him an opportunity."
PNG international Segeyaro, 28, was released from the remainder of his one-year Sharks contract on Friday to make the Broncos switch.
He had been playing for Cronulla's feeder team Newtown in the NSW Cup after being squeezed out of the Sharks' top squad due to salary cap restrictions.
It is some relief for Brisbane after McCullough broke down with the knee injury at Broncos training on Monday.
McCullough will avoid surgery but is expected to be sidelined for up to six weeks.
