The hard slog of pre-season training has been relished by Broncos winger Jharal Yow Yeh in his bid to end almost two years on the NRL sidelines by making a 2014 round one return.

The former Test flyer has hit the paddock a week before the rest of the Broncos squad, ending speculation he has hit "breaking point" in his recovery from a horror ankle injury.

"I am actually looking forward to this pre-season," he told the Broncos website.

"They are hard but they are something you have to do.

"The rehab does continue. It is going to be a long one but hopefully round one I have got that Broncos jersey on and running out at Suncorp."

Reports recently claimed Yow Yeh had to be urged by senior Broncos teammates not to give up on his comeback from the devastating compound fracture suffered against South Sydney in March 2012.

He underwent skin grafts and eight operations in 10 months before finally returning to the second tier Queensland Cup in April this year.

But his season was ended in August when he broke his hand moving a fridge for his mum, prompting fresh rumours that Yow Yeh was set to pull the plug on his NRL career.

Yow Yeh, 23, admitted there were times he sat at home and wondered if it was all worth it.

"Yeah, a little bit but I just think back to all the good times I had playing footy, and all the hard work that I have done to get where I am right now," said Yow Yeh who is contracted until the end of 2015.

"So I am not willing to give up that easy.

"Next year will be my seventh at the club. I was a passionate Broncos fan before I played footy and I am passionate about wearing the jersey.

"I am pushing myself and hopefully the fans will see me out there."

Yow Yeh - who played all three 2011 State of Origin games for Queensland - said he had set more personal goals like an NRL return rather than tasting rep footy again.

"This year was a real learning curve for me," he said.

"You can't push injuries, especially ones like mine.

"It has taken a lot longer than we thought but everyone has stuck with me at the club - all the coaches, all the boys and all the training staff.

"I am pretty confident that I should be right for next year.

"It is not going to be easy but I am up for the challenge.

"I am pretty stubborn."

The full Broncos squad begin pre-season training on Wednesday.
