Brothers denied bail after Sydney brawl

A Sydney court has refused bail to pair accused of wounding a man and his son during a pre-arranged brawl outside a Rouse Hill shopping centre.

Two brothers accused of stabbing a father and son outside a northwest Sydney shopping centre during a brawl pre-arranged on Facebook have been refused bail.

Glenn and Jyle Shillingsworth - aged 20 and 18 - have been charged with wounding with intent and affray after the fight, which police say was pre-arranged on Facebook, at the Rouse Hill shopping centre on Thursday evening.

A 15-year-old has also been charged.

Glenn Shillingsworth applied for bail at Mt Druitt Local court on Friday but was refused.

"It's a strong prosecution case along with a degree of planning," magistrate Geoffrey Hiatt said.

"I am satisfied on the balance of probability that there is an unacceptable risk to the community."

Jyle Shillingsworth did not apply for bail.

A family member of the two brothers posted a message on Facebook "Wish this was a bad dream" on Friday after the charges were laid.

Police have been told a group of about 20 men arranged to meet outside the shopping centre for a fight.

It is not known what the row was over.

A knife, scissors and baseball bat were seized from the crime scene and police are continuing their investigations.

Five men were arrested at a home in Whalan shortly after the fight broke out about 8.30pm.

A 41-year-old man was stabbed in his stomach, arms and back, and his 20-year-old son suffered a single stab wound to the chest during the fight at the intersection of Caddies Boulevard and White Hart Drive.

The father and son have both undergone surgery and are in a critical condition at Westmead Hospital, police said.

The underage man will appear at Parramatta Local Court on Friday.

The two brothers are due to back in court on December 5.
