Nathan Brown was cleared by the NRL match review committee but the South Sydney prop's stomp on an opponent wasn't a good look for the game.
That's the opinion of teammate David Tyrrell, who thought the Rabbitohs firebrand would be in trouble for stamping on Gold Coast forward Agnatius Paasi in Sunday's golden-point loss to the Titans.
The incident drew the wrath of former NSW State of Origin star and Fox Sports commentator Brett Kimmorley, who labelled the incident a "dog act".
Tyrrell was surprised by the MRC's decision to acquit Brown, who is clear to take his place in Friday's clash against his former club Wests Tigers.
"Obviously I didn't think it looked good but it's dealt with and let's move on," Tyrrell said on Tuesday.
"I certainly don't make the match review rules and I don't enforce them so the issue's been dealt with, hasn't it. It's got nothing to do with me."
Hooker Cameron McInnes argued Brown was simply trying to shrug off the tackle of the grounded Paasi, who was attempting to wrap Brown's legs at the time.
"The match review said that he was all sweet and that's good enough for me. We're happy to have him on Friday definitely," McInnes said.
"He was just trying to fight out of the tackle in my opinion. Obviously that's what the match review saw, so it's all sweet."
MRC head Michael Buettner defended the decision to merely issue Brown with a concerning act notice.
"He's applied pressure and it wasn't deemed forceful by the match review committee," Buettner said on Monday.
"And one of the other aspects here is that due to contact area, there wasn't an unacceptable risk of injury to the player on this occasion."
Brown, off-contract at the end of the year, has been in solid form for the Rabbitohs in 2016 and has started in three of their past six games.
"He's always there to take a carry, and good carries, too. Coming off the back fence, he rips in and that's what we need. I love playing with him," McInnes said.
