Brumbies hope for feisty Reds-Tahs clash

With the Brumbies playing Queensland and NSW Waratahs over the next two weeks, the Brumbies hope the two sides have a feisty Super Rugby game.

Queensland v NSW Waratahs clashes are traditionally fierce, but Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham is hoping Saturday night's match at Suncorp Stadium will be particularly feisty.

The Brumbies might be sitting pretty at the top of the Super Rugby ladder but the next two matches ahead of their round-seven bye will be pivotal for their season.

Having beaten the Western Force for a bonus-point win in Canberra on Friday night, the Brumbies will head to Brisbane to play the Reds next Saturday, before taking on grudge rivals and reigning premiers the Waratahs in Sydney eight days later.

That means Larkham won't just be keeping one eye on Saturday night's bitter clash between the Reds and Waratahs - but studying it closely.

"They normally are (fierce)," Larkham said.

"Reds v Waratahs is always a fairly feisty encounter and, from our point of view, we'd certainly like it to be."

The last time the Brumbies met the Reds, they trounced them 47-3 in Canberra and it has Larkham fearing a backlash.

"The Reds in Brisbane are a different prospect," he said.

"They're going to have a lot of motivation coming out from that round-one game - it was fairly embarrassing for them.

"So we've obviously got to see this game between the Reds and the Waratahs. We'll preview them and make some changes to our game that didn't work tonight (Friday)."
