Brumbies unleash Kuridrani on Sunwolves

Tevita Kuridrani will return for the Brumbies in their clash against the Sunwolves where a big victory could take them top of the Australian conference.

Brumbies coach Dan McKellar has delivered on his promise to pick the best team available to tackle the Sunwolves.

McKellar could have been tempted to give star centre Tevita Kuridrani another week to overcome a knee complaint, considering they have the bye next.

But Kuridrani put his hand up to play and McKellar has shown plenty of respect to Super Rugby's bottom-placed side by picking the Wallabies veteran.

McKellar backed Kuridrani to bring plenty of firepower through the midfield and said they wouldn't be underestimating an unpredictable Sunwolves outfit on Sunday.

"Tevita brings go forward, defensively he works very hard for us off the ball and provides a lot of confidence for our inside backs," McKellar said.

"It's good for him to be back and I know he's keen to get his hands on the ball a bit more.

"You just have to expect the unexpected with the Sunwolves. Tony Brown is a very creative coach so who knows what they'll present.

"They're a good side with a lot of good players and can be so dangerous. If you don't give them the respect they deserve, as they've proven many times, you will get beaten."

Brumbies lock Rory Arnold will miss the game with an ankle injury which has promoted Darcy Swain to the starting side.

McKellar's men finish a six-game block this week from which they've collected 13 of a potential 25 competition points.

The Brumbies will likely need to win three of their five remaining games to play finals.

"This block has been really pleasing so far with the tour and the Lions at home and now we need to finish strong and turn up with a whole lot of intent and physicality and energy," McKellar said.

"It's about making sure we tick every box and turn up Sunday confident off the back of our preparation because when we do that we play well. "
