Buckley doing right thing by club: Eddie

Collingwood president Eddie McGuire says analysis of the AFL side's woes and calls for Nathan Buckley to depart won't impact the club's approach.

Collingwood president Eddie McGuire says criticism of Nathan Buckley won't skew the AFL club's view of the under-siege coach.

The pressure is on Buckley to turn the Magpies' season around against Brisbane on Saturday night, with the 14th-placed side having won just four of their past 18 games.

Buckley is contracted until the end of the 2017 season, having signed a new deal earlier this year.

But the fifth-year mentor has come under increasing scrutiny from pundits with every loss this season.

"Is Bucks doing the right thing by the club? Absolutely. There's no issue. Everyone always looks at the coach, it's a bit silly at times," McGuire told radio station RSN927 on Tuesday.

"I know what we've been trying to achieve with our list.

"I know the other elements that other people don't know because it's none of their business.

"You make your decisions based on that."

McGuire suggested on Monday he questioned his own position after an upset loss to Carlton.

"It's an emotional game and I was just sharing my experience," McGuire explained.

"It wasn't a sign I'm about to pull the pin or a sign of weakness or anything else, I was just being honest.

"I'm only there if I can contribute."

McGuire added "everyone's right" at Collingwood and that the club is well placed to deal with the heat.

"The one thing we know is how to absorb external pressure," he said.

"We're going through a tough patch at the moment so we've got to fight our way out of it. We've done it before and we'll do it again."
