Important infrastructure projects announced in the budget will help NSW but some measures could lead to higher council rates and payroll tax increases in the future, the state's business chamber says.
"I don't agree with all of the government's decisions but ... having the courage to make difficult decisions is more important than getting the perfect answer," NSW Business Chamber chief Stephen Cartwright said.
Investing $2.9 billion in western Sydney road upgrades as the first step in the construction of Sydney's second airport at Badgerys Creek, and a further $11.6 billion for the WestConnex project and Pacific Highway upgrades have been applauded by the group.
But not all of the government's moves were welcomed.
"We are also concerned that reduced payments to the states and local governments for health and education may simply lead to higher council rates and payroll tax increases down the track," Mr Cartwright said.
