Western Bulldogs AFL Rising Star nominee Caleb Daniel is out of Saturday night's match against Brisbane with a calf muscle injury.

The Bulldogs made the late change on Friday, with Toby McLean taking his place.

McLean originally was dropped for the Etihad Stadium match along with key defender Joel Hamling, the pair making way for Easton Wood and Tory Dickson.

Daniel was this week's Rising Star nomination after starring last week in the win over Carlton.

His absence means five changes for the Bulldogs, who are having a bad run with injuries.

Jason Johannisen (hamstring) is out of action for two months, Tom Boyd (shoulder) was also left out this weekend and captain Bob Murphy has had a knee reconstruction.
