Canterbury have reaffirmed their faith in Des Hasler to return them to the top after re-signing him for another two NRL seasons.
After six months of speculation about his future, the two-time premiership-winning coach put pen to paper on a new deal which will keep him at Belmore until the end of 2019.
Hasler's future looked on shaky ground after a disappointing exit from the 2016 finals and a scratchy start to 2017.
However the club has refused to waiver in their belief in one of the NRL's most successful coaches and his ability to deliver the premiership success their fervent support base demands.
"I have been extremely happy here at the Bulldogs," Hasler said.
"The club has great history and tradition and an incredibly loyal fan base."
Last October he survived an emergency board meeting to decide his future, with club great Steve Mortimer subsequently stepping down as a director after questioning the direction of the club under Hasler's stewardship.
After the side's round-four loss to Manly, his job once again came under scrutiny from the club's directors.
But after getting back in the winner's circle with a 10-7 victory over Brisbane last Thursday, he was handed a two-year contract extension.
The 56-year-old has one of the most enviable records of any modern coach having been involved in 12 successive finals series. Only in his rookie coaching year at the Sea Eagles in 2004 did he fail to make the top eight.
He took Manly to three grand finals including two premiership wins and has guided the Bulldogs to deciders in 2012 and 2014.
Over the course of his career he has won 202 of 342 games for a 59 per cent winning rate.
"Des is a proven coach," Canterbury chief executive Raelene Castle said.
"His record over the years shows that and we are extremely pleased that negotiations have resulted in Des remaining at the club.
"This contract extension builds on the last five years of growth within our football program."
