Called the "V-Bag" the bag combines a bulletproof vest with a bulletproof backpack.
"We've shot at it with a 9mm hang gun, up to 44 calibre guns and it resists... Our goal has been to minimise the risk to the child," manufacturer Miguel Caballero told CNN's Rafael Romo.
Callabero said the company began to produce the V-Bags after the Newtown shooting, when parents started making inquiries about child-sized body armour.
The bulletproof backpacks are expected to sell for between $US 200 ($A 196) and $US 300 in Colombia, but if they is enough demand, Callabero says he may export them to the United States.
