Bulls beat Miami on Wade's NBA return

Dwyane Wade got a win with Chicago on his return to Miami while New Orleans grabbed their first victory with defeat of Matthew Dellavedova's Milwaukee Bucks.

Dwyane Wade got a win with Chicago on his return to Miami while New Orleans racked up their first victory of the NBA season with defeat of Matthew Dellavedova's Milwaukee.

Wade received a rousing welcome in Miami on Thursday as he returned to the site of past glory with his new team the Chicago Bulls.

Helping the Bulls to a 98-95 victory over the Heat, the 34-year-old Wade closed the book on his Heat days and the most successful chapter of his career.

"It's one of the weirdest games I've ever played in. I'm glad it's over," Wade told reporters after finishing with 13 points on just 5-for-17 shooting.

"There were so many emotions in coming back, but I tried not thinking about the game. I'm just glad we got the win."

Wade surprised the basketball world in the off-season when he left as a free agent to sign with the Bulls after 13 seasons with the Heat, but the fans showed no ill will in his first trip back.

Prior to tipoff, the American Airlines Arena played a lengthy tribute that spanned Wade being drafted by the team in 2003 as the fifth overall pick, to his helping Miami capture three championships.

Meanwhile, Dellavedova poured in seven points, 12 assists and five rebounds in Milwaukee's 112-106 loss to New Orleans.

After eight straight losses to start the season, it was a relief for the Pelicans to finally get one in the win column.

Anthony Davis hit a pair of free throws with 12 seconds left to end up with 32 points.

The Philadelphia 76ers (0-7) are the remaining winless team in the NBA.

Jabari Parker scored a season-high 33 points for Milwaukee, who lost their second straight game to a team that was winless.

In their last game on Sunday, the Bucks fell 86-75 in overtime to Dallas, who were 0-5 heading into that game.

Milwaukee used a late 9-4 run to pull within 108-105 on Giannis Antetokounmpo's three-point play with 40 seconds to go.

Dellavedova made a free throw to cut the New Orleans lead to 108-106, but Davis converted both free throws to make it a two-possession game.

Mirza Teletovic missed a running three-point attempt with six seconds left, and Tim Frazier hit a pair of free throws to close the scoring.

In the other matches, the Golden State Warriors smashed the Denver Nuggets 125-101 and the LA Lakers roared home from a 19-point deficit to record a 101-91 win over the Sacramento Kings.
