Burgess avoids ban for shoulder charge

Sam Burgess will be free to face the Sydney Roosters on Friday night after the South Sydney star avoided being sanctioned for a shoulder charge.

Sam Burgess has escaped sanction for a shoulder charge on Dale Finucane in South Sydney's win over the Storm.

Burgess was penalised in Souths' 30-20 victory but was not cited, so he will be free to play the Sydney Roosters on Friday night.

Meanwhile, the Wests Tigers' Sauaso Sue was the only player charged from Friday night's games, however he'll avoid suspension with an early guilty plea for the dangerous contact on Newcastle's Kalyn Ponga.
