Bushfire alert for WA Aboriginal community

The threat has eased to an Aboriginal community in the Kimberley from a bushfire bearing on the region.

A bushfire threatening the remote Aboriginal community of Egret in Western Australia has been downgraded from an emergency warning to a "watch and act".

The threat level was changed after the suspicious fire passed through the area.

But the Department of Fire and Emergency Services says there's still a possible threat to lives and homes as conditions are changing.

The watch and act has been issued for people on or near Victoria Highway between Lake Argyle Road and Kununurra townsite and Egret community in Kununurra in the Kimberley region.
