Bushfire alert in Perth's south

A bushfire in Perth's south has been contained by fire crews.

Fire authorities have contained a blaze in Perth's southern suburbs that was posing a possible threat to lives and homes.

Emergency services are now working to bring the fire under control, with a bushfire advice issued for people in an area bounded by Serpentine Road, Young Road, Karnup Road and Baldivis Road in the Shire of Rockingham.

A watch and act warning was issued for the area after 2pm on Sunday, but emergency services have since contained it.

The slow-moving fire has forced the closure of several roads and emergency services have recommended people avoid the area.
