Bushfire out of control near Esperance

A watch and act alert has been issued for WA's Shire of Esperance as an out of control bushfire threatens lives and homes.

An out-of-control bushfire is threatening lives and homes near Pink Lake in WA's Goldfields-Esperance region.

A watch and act alert has been issued near Helms Drive, Barook Road and Tuart Forest Grove in the western parts of Pink Lake in the Shire of Esperance, with people warned to leave the area or prepare to defend their property.

A number of roads have also been closed and motorists are being asked to avoid the area due to the unpredictable fire, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services said.
