A bushfire, which may have been deliberately started, in Western Australia's Kimberley region has been downgraded and is no longer threatening lives and homes.
A fast-burning fire sparked a watch and act alert for residents and travellers in the Crab Creek area in the Broome shire on Sunday afternoon.
People in the area were urged to leave immediately as the flames were out of control and unpredictable.
However, the warning has since been downgraded to an alert level.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises there is no threat to lives or homes but there is a lot of smoke in the area.
The blaze is moving slowly in a westerly direction on the western side of the Great Northern Highway and is burning in swampy bushland.
The fire was reported at 12.43pm (WST) on Sunday and is considered suspicious.
