Bushfire threatens homes in Townsville

Residents in the vicinity of Cape Cleveland near Townsville, have been advised to enact their bushfire plans as a large fire burns out of control.

Residents have been told to evacuate as a fast moving bushfire burns out of control near Townsville.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) issued a watch and act alert, which warns some properties may be lost and advises those in the vicinity of Cape Cleveland to enact their bushfire plan.

The large bushfire was burning at Riley Road, Cape Cleveland around 2.30pm and is travelling in a westerly direction.

It's expected to affect the areas of Meehan Road, Riley Road and Cape Cleveland Road.
