Bust nets $250k of cocaine on Gold Coast

Police have seized about 1kg of cocaine, worth about $250,000, on the Gold Coast during the middle of schoolies' celebrations.

A major drug bust on the Gold Coast has stopped $250,000 worth of cocaine falling into the hands of schoolies.

Police seized about 1kg of the party drug in a raid on a Surfers Paradise high-rise apartment on Tuesday afternoon.

They also found amphetamines, steroids, cannabis and about $12,000 in cash.

Detective Acting Superintendent Scott Knowles said the cocaine was ready for distribution and may have been destined for schoolies.

"It's obviously a market that's there, it's an easy market to access at this time of year here on the Gold Coast," he told reporters on Wednesday.

"We see what schoolies pay in terms of accommodation and things; they obviously have got some cash here."

Police have arrested three people over the haul, which Acting Supt Knowles said was the biggest on the Gold Coast in recent times.

Investigations are ongoing, he said.
