The driver of the truck that sparked the Ravenshoe cafe explosion is on life support and would be "heartbroken" to know the crash had claimed two lives, his son says.
Brian Scutt is believed to have had a heart attack shortly before his ute ploughed into the back of the Serves You Right Cafe last Tuesday and triggered a gas explosion.
Cafe manager 37-year-old Nicole Nyholt died from burns on Friday, while 82-year-old Margaret Clark passed away in hospital on Sunday night.
Seven others, including Mr Scutt, are in hospital in a critical condition.
Eleven more are listed as either being in a serious or stable condition.
Mr Scutt's son said his father is in an induced coma at Cairns Base Hospital after suffering a broken spine, internal injuries and burns to 30 per cent of his body.
He said the family had been told the 60-year-old stockman may not survive.
"If Dad comes out of this coma, he'd be devastated to know how many lives are lost and destroyed," he told The Courier-Mail.
