Cahill scores in Shenhua soccer win

Socceroos veteran Tim Cahill scored his third goal in four games as his Shanghai Shenhua side won 1-0 in the Chinese Super League.

Tim Cahill scored his third goal in four games to fire Shanghai Shenhua to a 1-0 victory over Guangzhou R&F at the Hongkou Football Stadium.

The veteran Australian's winner arrived 15 minutes from time to pile further pressure on Guangzhou boss Cosmin Contra, whose side are struggling down in 10th place after finishing third last season.

It was a first win in three attempts for Shenhua, as Super League leaders Beijing Guoan are unbeaten in six and won their most recent match 1-0 thanks to Dejan Damjanovic.

A sixth goal of the season for the 33-year-old Montenegrin arrived in the 56th minute to keep Beijing three points clear of Shandong Luneng, who also tasted victory on Saturday.

Aloisio took a share of the top-scorer slot in China's top flight - with Tobias Hysen of Shanghai SIPG - by registering an 11th goal of the current campaign.

This time the former Sao Paulo striker converted a 17th-minute penalty and his fellow Brazilian Diego Tardelli popped up in the 83rd minute to cement a 2-0 win over Liaoning in Jinan.
