Cairns gas leak fixed, cordon lifted

An emergency declaration put in place around a Cairns service station following reports of a gas leak has been revoked.

A gas leak which prompted families to be evacuated from homes in Cairns has been fixed and no one has been harmed.

An emergency declaration for an area around a service station in Cairns North was lifted on Thursday afternoon, police say.

Drivers had been restricted from going near the station and two families had been evacuated from their homes after reports of a gas leak about 1pm.
