Cairns reels over child killings

The city of Cairns is reeling after the discovery of the bodies of eight children in the suburb of Manoora.

The bodies of eight children ranging in age from 18 months to 15 years were found this morning at a house Murray Street in the Cairns suburb of Manoora.

A 34 year old woman who's believed to be the mother of seven of the children is in hospital with stab wounds and is helping police with the investigation,

Police have stressed she's not being viewed as a suspect.

Dr Mark Wenitong is with the Apunipima Cape York Health Council who has relatives living in Murray Street.

He spoke with Minelle Creed from SBS Living Black Radio.
