Call for clarification on Indigenous recognition

A new group is calling for clarification of what exactly Australians are being asked to support, to recognise Indigenous people in the Constitution.

For years now, there's been talk of Australia changing its Constitution to give special recognition to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Despite apparent bilateral political support, the previous Labor government failed to put it to a referendum, saying it might not yet have sufficient public support to be passed.

Instead, a group called 'Recognise' was formed to campaign across the country for the proposal.

But now a new group calling itself 'Recognise What?' has been launched, calling for clarification of what exactly Australians are being asked to support.

Secretary, Wesley Aird, spoke with Phillippa Carisbrooke.
