The World Health Organisation has called for an intensified fight against what it describes as the global tobacco epidemic.
It estimates that tobacco will kill as many as one-billion people this century if urgent action is not taken.
The W-H-O is proposing new bans on tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship, to help achieve a global target to reduce tobacco use by 30 per cent by 2025.
