Calls for Australia to resettle refugees from Asian boats

Hundreds of people have taken the streets around Australia as part of a national protest to support asylum seekers caught in the Asian boat people crisis.

Protesters have gathered in Melbourne's CBD calling on the Australian government to do more to help mostly Rohingyas from Myanmar and Bangladeshis adrift at sea in south east Asia.

SBS reporter Sarah Abo was at the rally and she spoke to Sacha Payne.
