A conservation group is calling for the major parties to commit to more Indigenous rangers and greater protection of the Great Barrier Reef.

WWF has welcomed the Coalition's promise to provide $5-million for Indigenous rangers and the protection of dugongs and turtles that it says are threatened by extreme weather.

 

But it says it wants both Labor and the Coalition to commit to 100 Indigenous marine rangers and to produce a plan to protect the Reef from development.

 

WWF Spokesman Darren Grover spoke to Ildi Amon.
