Campo growing confident as Crows AFL coach

Scott Camporeale says he's growing more comfortable as the coach of the Adelaide Crows.

Caretaker Adelaide AFL coach Scott Camporeale says he's growing more confident in the job.

He's not yet willing to publicly stake a claim for the fulltime gig next season.

Nor is he reading too much into the backing from club chief Andrew Fagan, who says Camporeale is "a capable future senior coach, should that be what he wants to do".

Camporeale says it's Adelaide's performances - six wins in nine games since taking over after the death of Phil Walsh - that have built his confidence as a coach.

"What gives a coach confidence is your playing group actually buying into what you're presenting and the game plan that we're doing and getting a response when you need to," he told reporters on Monday.

"That is what gives you confidence, not the public or anyone pumping up your tyres.

"I'm worried about what the playing group's attitude is and the way they execute what we're asking them to do. They have done everything to the letter so far."

Camporeale said Adelaide's season shouldn't be defined by the result of Saturday night's MCG elimination final against the Western Bulldogs.

"What it does is it gives our footy club a bit more resilience, a bit more credit in the industry and great experience for our players going forward," he said.

"They're cut-throat so the pressure is high. There is no next week so that is great, that is exciting, because that puts everyone on edge and on notice."
