Canadian Hadwin makes International team for Presidents Cup

The International team, selected off the world rankings, will be dominated by Australians and South Africans, each with three representatives.

Hadwin retained 10th spot in the International rankings after nobody played well enough at the Dell Technologies Championship at TPC Boston to pass him.

Chappell, however, barely edged Charley Hoffman for the 10th spot on the U.S. team, though Hoffman will probably merit consideration for one of the two captain's picks that Steve Stricker will announce on Wednesday.

Veteran Phil Mickelson, who has never missed a Presidents Cup since the event started in 1994, is also likely to figure in Stricker's plans.

International captain Nick Price has considerably less obvious options. Argentine Emiliano Grillo and Japanese Hideto Tanihara are among those who might catch Price's eye.

The Americans have lost the biennial match play event only once and will start hot favourites again at Liberty National in Jersey City on Sept. 28 with Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas three of the top four players in the world.

AUTOMATIC SELECTIONS:

United States - Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler, Daniel Berger, Brooks Koepka, Kevin Kisner, Patrick Reed, Matt Kuchar, Kevin Chappell

International - Hideki Matsuyama (Japan), Jason Day (Australia), Adam Scott (Australia), Louis Ootshuizen (South Africa), Charl Schwartzel (South Africa), Marc Leishman (Australia), Branden Grace (South Africa), Jhonattan Vegas (Venezuela), Kim Si-woo (South Korea), Adam Hadwin (Canada)
